Guilty pleasures chapter 7

JC leads them all behind the curtain, where a vampire dressed out in gladiator garb is waiting to head out on stage. After bitching about a hard act to follow (really? A show that totally freaked out the crowd should be a pretty easy show to follow) stalks out on stage.
Catherine naturally looks pale, Anita wonders if she looks as pale before dismissing it since she 'doesn't have the skin tone' I... But... Bullshit, before she said she had white skin, and now she claims that she doesn't have the skin tone to be pale?
Make up your goddamn mind and bloody stick to you it hack of a writer -.-
Showing that she is a much better friend then Anita, Catherine asks if she's alright, which Anita responds in the perfect natural act of lying. Catherine goes on to ask what the fuck is going on, since Anita is no more then a vamp then she is.
Aubrey for some reason laughs at that statement, considering that she's proving herself to be a completely selfish bitch at this point I can see where he is coming from, but some restraint might be in call here.

We now get a bit of back and forth about how JC and Anita needs to talk, Anita doesn't want Catherine involved but Aubrey wants her involved since it effects her.
After they come to the conclusion that Catherine would go to the police if she had any idea what was happening they wipe her memory (great friendship there Anita) since it means that Aubrey now has utter control of Catherine and the only way to break the hold is to kill him.
There were so many better ways to handle this, allowing this to happen to her friend then bitch about it doesn't make me like or feel sorry for Anita and her plight. It makes me think that she's lazy and willing to sacrifice her friends to get her way.

We find out that all of this was a ploy to get Anita onto the case that Willy was tasked to hire her for. When Anita points out that there were other options they could have tried before taking such drastic measures, JC points out that it would have taken time and there was no guarantee that she would have signed on. This way if she doesn't do what they need Catherine will die. Blood-thirsty but practical.
Anita wants a promise that Catherine will get home safely without "long fang" (her 'insulting' name for Aubrey which he seems to like) chowing down on her as a midnight snack.

JC promises that Catherine will be harmed if Anita helps him, which she calls bullshit on since he doesn't hold Aubrey's leash. JC naturally takes offense to that fact that she's doubting his word, Aubrey who for some reason has been giggling like a drunk during this entire conversation straightens up and claims that he is his own master.
Anita again proves how stupid she is by pointing out that he's 500 years old (when the hell was this mentioned?) and that if he was a master he should have wiped the stage floor with her, but since he didn't he clearly isn't in charge of his own actions since all vampires are either masters or bitches.
Aubrey freaks out, JC points out that she guessed his age within 50 years and that they need her. Not sure what that has to do with anything going on exactly but when the name Nikolaos is mentioned he backs of pretty quick. After of course making it clear the JC isn't his master.
As much as I love watching two alpha males get into a testosterone fueled battle, this just seemed kinda pointless, we already knew that JC wasn't his master.

When Anita asks who the hell Nikky is (Nicolaos's nickname from now on) JC replies that it's not a question that he can answer. So she asks about Monica, before realizing that the entire night was a setup; Catherine seriously needs to invest in some new friends, because this is just fucked up.
Monica appears out of no-where, and Anita smiles, noting that it feels good. I'm going to go ahead and assume that it isn't a pleasant smile because there is no way in hell I would react so nicely if I was betrayed to those I hunted, especially if my best mate was dragged into the entire mess.
Anita makes to walk towards her but JC grabs her arm, pointing out that Monica is under the vamps protection, which she responds that she isn't going to lay a finger on her, she just wants to tell her something.
She gets up in Monica's grill, threatening that if anything happens to Catherine she'll see her dead.
Monica just points out in a self-satisfied way that she'd only be brought back as a vamp by her protectors, Anita's psychotic side shows through as she replies that she'd cut out her heart, burn it then scatter it's ashes in a river while smiling.
Now usually I wouldn't have an issue with this threat since I'd probably do the same in her place, only she ruins it by claiming that she's glad that Monica is taking her seriously because she hates to waste a good threat.
In this case it shouldn't be a threat, it should be a promise and regardless if she believes you or not the outcome should be the same as what you said.
But I'm a blood thirsty son-of-a-bitch so it could be different for other readers.

This chapter was 4 pages long... This is going to be a long and painful journey.
