Guilty pleasures: Chapter 18

This chapter starts off with an EVIL rich blond women walking into the room, since Anita mentions that she wouldn't have even blinked twice at Jamison's price I think it's safe to assume that this is the women whose son wants to become a vamp, it turns out that her son is also blond and roughly 15 years of age. Since you need to be 18 to become the undead I'm not entirely sure why his mum is taking him this seriously yet.
Anita goes on to snark that people can't legally drink, but they can chose to die and become immortal.
That actually brings up a interesting debate, people are against euthanasia, would becoming a vampire count as that?

Jamison is apparently an evil vampire sympathizer, since he's smiling and talking softly to the boy, Anita holds her card out to the women. Making another snarky comment about how it takes breeding to make someone feel less then them, she assumes it's her shirt (well duh) and goes on to state that she's too awesome for this women to get to her.
It turns out the card she is holding out is actually a number to a expert on vampire cults, the women retorts that she doesn't want her son brainwashed... It's not actually mentioned if she's for or against the whole vamp thing.
Anita smiles in a condescending way, stating that her contact gives people the truth no matter how nasty it was and didn't deal in brainwashing. The women replies that Jaminson has given them all the info they need, Anita shows her, her injured arm stating that she didn't get injured playing touch football.
The women looks shaken under her expertly applied makeup [...] "Vampires did this?" Her voiced was small and breathy, almost human.
Wait... The mum isn't human??
Jamison takes her elbow, introducing Anita as the local vampire slayer. Anita really has it in for this women, saying that while her face was quickly crumbling she recovered quickly to her superior outlook again.
Anita shrugs in response, pressing the card into the women's manicured hand, and Jamison tactfully took it from her and pocketed it.
Anita goes on to think that she had tried, she'd done all she could and that the sons face looks very young. Recalling that at 18 she was also an expert on everything and that at 21 she realized that she didn't know anything.
She was a mature bloody 21 year old then, but hey guys mature less then females so that could just be me.

Jamison ushers his costumers towards the door, Anita picks up a sentence or two about how "She was trying to kill them. They were merely defending themselves."
Anita grumbles about how he's only telling them half-truths, well it isn't really, she was trying to kill them and they were defending themselves. The fact they were probably mass murders are irreverent. Technically.
She goes on for a bit about how young the boy looks, thinking that you should have to be able to shave before you can kill yourself. I've seen 12 year olds who have to shave, so bad argument there.
Anita goes into the office to collect the files she needs, Jamison's follows her in. Shutting the door behind him, we now get the usual description about him, like how he is thin from luck of genetics and not actual work, and that according to Anita the only lifting he does is a drink glass.

Jamison warns her not to interfere with his costumers again, Anita basically brushes it off since she's clearly better then him.
Though we do learn that he has no qualifications to counsel people on becoming a vampire, an argument Jamison shuts down by saying Bert thinks he is.
Isn't this highly illegal? And again, why the fuck are people paying an outrageous amount of money for bad advice and to talk to people who have nothing to do with what they want to do/are actually after?
This is sounding more and more like a scam...
Jamison then goes on about how she has no morals to stand on since she murders people for murder, and that she's basically a legal assassin.
Anita takes a deep breath, claiming that she won't argue with him, before claiming that she's killing criminals with the full blessing of the law.
Jamison seems to think that she enjoys killing though, going on to claim that she can't go a week without bathing herself in some vampire blood.
A claim that Anita is shocked at, before displaying her scars and going on about how many they murdered before she got involved, stating that Valentine killed little boys before they were more tender... What? He's a vampire not a fucking cannibal, get your shit sorted Anita.
Jamison states that she just doesn't understand them, Anita pokes him in the chest claiming that no, he doesn't understand them.
Apparently being poked in the chest pushes Jami here off the edge, Anita goes on to state that you never touch anyone during a fight unless you want violence. Clearly she's never invested in angry sex then...

Anita apologizes, as she walks past him he asks what the files are for, Anita debates about not telling him. But since he'd be able to tell once looking she tells him it's about the recent vampire murders, causing him to ask if she took the money.
It turns out that when the vamps first came to them, Bert tried to get Jami on the case but the vamps wanted nothing to do with him, he goes on to state that he never thought she would take the job on.
Anita claims that money even talks to her, Jami states that money as never interested her before, Anita says that was clearly short-sighted of her, Jami enforces just how evil he is with agreeing that it was short-sighted of her. But he knows that she isn't doing this for money.

Anita then goes off on a tangent about how Jami thinks of vampires as fanged people, he never gets his hands dirty so he can apparently afford to pretend, ignore or even lie to himself, and how great she is since she's gotten her hands dirty more then once and that lying to yourself is an awesome way to get your ass killed.
I kinda get what she's trying to convey here, but there is no point in looking down on those who are uneducated, like those people who don't understand how transgender people transition. You can yell and scream all you want, but most often all you need to do is sit down and answer their questions, looking down on them for not understanding is how you widen the gap, not close it.
Anita then claims that whatever can kill vamps would make mincemeat out of humans and that's why she wants to solve the mystery. She then goes on about how he only believes her because he wants to keep his world ordered and clean.
If I was him I would point out that she kills vamps, does that make her threat to the human race and thus need to be slaughtered?
Jami asks if she really thinks that she could find someone the master vampire can't, she responds that they think they can and leaves the room with Jami following.

She never finds out if he was going to ask her more questions since someone calls out to Anita, asking if she is ready to go.
There was a man sitting in one of the lobby chairs, half-lost in the jungle plants [insert completely pointless description here] it was Phillip of the many scars.
Anita mentally snarks that she didn't recognize him with his clothes on, he claims that they need to talk. Anita covers her surprise by stating that she wasn't expecting to see him so soon. Mary the receptionist is resting her chin in her hands, enjoying the show as any sane person would.
Anita introduces Phil to Jami as her friend, which she instantly regrets as she realizes what that implies, Jami grins broadly, shaking Phil's hand. Mary makes a hubba hubba motion with her hand, what the ever the fuck that means.
Jami goes on to say that he can't wait to tell everyone at work about him, and how'd they'd love to also meet him one day.
Anita shoves Phil out of the door, grumbling that Jami will tell everyone that she has a lover. Phil slips his arm around her waist, she considers shoving him away but now apparently they are pretending that they really are dating. She does manage to sneer about the fact that he pauses slightly when his hand brushes her gun.
They run into a real estate agent in the hallway, she says hello to Anita but merely stares at Phil, as they walk towards the elevator Anita looks over her shoulder to see the agent staring at Phil's ass.
I never knew females were so much into scars, they should be loving all my scars then.
Turns out Phil is there because JC didn't return to the club and he's pretty worried, Anita bites back that she didn't kill him if that's what he's worried about.
Anita then gives Phil shit, asking if he's always posing. He states that it's natural talent, they get into the elevator. Phil asks if JC is alright, Anita doesn't answer saying that she'll be happy enough to talk once she gets lunch.
Phil jokes that she's trying to pick him up, they have a bit of back and forth about this, Anita then goes on to say that she's a very judgmental person, it's one of her faults and because of this she isn't interested in him because she knows what gets his rocks off and she doesn't approve.
Phil claims he has other kinks, she doubts it, he claims that by the time they finish lunch she will believe him. Since Anita figures that he's an attractive guy use to females drooling over him, that he isn't actually trying to seduce her, he just wants her to admit she finds him attractive.
So she goes on to admit that he's attractive, he pauses to look over his sunglasses at her before stating that she can pick the restaurant.
Anita wonders if she has insulted him, before wondering if she really gives a fuck.

Our heroine ladies and gentlemen....
