Guilty Pleasures Chapter 42

This chapter starts off with Anita dreaming about JC sitting in a craved throne, he extends one long-fingered hand out towards her, telling her to come closer.
The camera then pans back to show us that she's currently wearing a long white dress that had lace of its own. Whatever the hell that means since lace hasn't been mentioned in this chapter until this point.

Anita has a mini freak out when she realizes that the dress is of JC's choosing not hers, which means that he has some control over her dreams. Which I admit would freak me out as well, so no bitching about that logic.
JC holds out both hands, again ordering her to come towards him, which this time she does. The dress whispered and scraped on the stones, a continuous rustling noise. It grated on my nerves.

I'm not sure what's with LKH and preferring full stops over adding to her sentences, take this for example. "a continues rustling noise that grated on my nerves." doesn't that have much better flow to it?

Alrighty, Anita is now standing in front of JC and even though she knows it's a bad idea and that she shouldn't do it, she raises her hands slowly and rests them on his chest. Using her hands, JC then rips his shirt open, insert description of how hot JC is here, and we're back to her nightmare.
Gripping Anita's chin JC moves her closer to her chest, where he magically makes himself bleed just under his right nipple. This move naturally freaks our protagonist out, as she pulls back JC tightens his hold on her chin.
Anita makes to hit him with her left hand which he easily catches and holds onto, I used my right hand to grip the floor and shoved with my knees. He held my at jaw and wrist like a butterfly on a pin. you can move, but you can't get away.

I'm really struggling to imagine the point or purpose of that move she just pulled there, either way Anita drops to the floor and he lets her down so he doesn't strangle her. She takes this opportunity to kick out with both feet somehow, hitting him in the knees.
JC lets her go fast enough for her to drop back, but he manages to grab both of her wrists, somehow managing to end up sitting back on the throne he traps Anita by forcing her to kneel between his knees while he controls her wrists.

Nicky appears out of no-where, her laughter filling the room like music gone mad.
Anita begs JC not to do this, but he grabs the back of her head and forces her slowly towards his still bleeding chest.
Nicky continues laughing as she watches this pointing out that "Scratch the surface, and we are much alike, animator."

Anita keeps begging JC not to do this as he starts to chant, she can then see what eternity would feel like with his touch and blood, she snaps out of it in time to realize that her mouth is almost touching his wound, she freaks out big time. Begging JC not to do this and asking for gods' help in this mess.
Suddenly someone touches her shoulder and instinct took over. The gun from the headboard was in my hand and turning to point.

Edward traps her hand under a pillow, keeping her gun pointing harmlessly at the wall. For some reason Edward is breathing heavily which makes me think that he isn't nearly as badass as Anita makes him out to be,
He asks her if she's alright, when she nods he demands that she says something. So informs him that she had a nightmare, he says no shit then asks who JC is since she was calling out his name.

Anita then realizes that she is drenched with sweat, looking out the window she has a mild panic attack thinking that if the sun has already set then Catherine wouldn't stand a chance. Edward basically tells her not to be an idiot, and that it's basically just cloud cover as they still have four hours before the sunsets.

Going into the bathroom Anita washes her face while wondering who gave her the nightmare and if it was a sign that Nicky is already controlling her, since an angel doesn't come down from heaven to smack the obvious answer multiple times over her head, she leaves the bathroom.

Edward was sitting in the white chair when I came back out. He watched me like I was an interesting species of insect that he had never seen before.

  Because that made sense.

Anita then calls Catherine's office, again proving to us what an awesome friend she is (or an attack of coincidence, you decide) as Catherine is currently out of town and won't be back for a night or so.
Hanging up the phone she then calls Irving the werewolf, who is also a journalist for the local newspaper. We... We then get more humor, because yay.

Irving the werewolf. It didn't quite work, but then what did? Charles the werewolf, naw. Justin, Oliver, Wilbur, Brent? Nope.

Irving is naturally suspicious when Anita asks for a favor since apparently she doesn't give as much as she gets regarding their little business relationship.
It turns out that Anita wants to get a message to the ratking, and since Irving knows a wererat then he should be able to organize a meeting.

Stupid logic that, it'd be like me going up to a pom and going 'well hey, you're British I need to speak to your queen. Go and sort that out for me mmk?'

Irving takes the message regardless and tells her that he should have news by tomorrow night and to not get killed in the mean time.

As soon as I hung up the phone rang again. I picked it up without thinking. A phone rings, you pick it up, years of training. I haven't had my answering machine long enough to shake it completely.

Have I been using my answering machine wrong this entire time?? I thought you were only suppose to use it when you're out or screening calls, not for every bloody phone call!
Eh, but then again new technology, everyone over uses it in the wrong way.

It turns out that its Bert on the phone, he points out that while he knows that she's busy with the vampire mystery that someone called Jenson called and agreed to something as long as Anita does it, but it has to be done tonight before he chickens out......

Since Anita isn't reading this blog and able to follow my awesome advice, she agrees to the meeting which will happen after dark.
Also the entire thing is costing the client thirty thousand dollars, five of that has already arrived as down-payment. Somehow this makes Bert extremely evil in Anita's eyes, I dunno. He's a business man and appears to be very successful one at that, why are you surprised Anita?!

Edward naturally isn't happy when he learns that Anita has taken on a job tonight, more so when he finds out that it could drain her energy level doing this.
We now learn why it is so important that this job be done tonight.

Jenson's daughter killed herself 20 years ago, 7 years ago he raised her from the dead. It turns out that he was sexually abusing her, felt remorseful and wanted her forgiveness. She naturally wouldn't give it to him, wanting her forgiveness he wouldn't allow her to be laid back in her grave. He's kept her around as a rotting corpse as some form of self punishment for what he has done, but now appears to be happy to let her rest.

Edward tries to talk her out of doing the job tonight, but Anita is stubborn about it so he backs down. Anita asks if he's ever seen a zombie raising before, he admits that he hasn't so she asks if he's squeamish. Instead of answering her in a normal fashion or even playing along with the joke, Edward instead 'reveals his inner psychopath' by shutting down all facial expression and eye warmth while just staring at her silently.

I didn't faint or run screaming from the room, but it was something of an effort. [...] I hoped Edward never turned that look on me for real. If he did, one of us would die. Odds are it would be me.
